XLR out not recognized?

I'm trying to connect the DI output on my amp into my Tascam DP008 recording unit so I can use the amps EQ on my signal. I'm using a Fender Rumble 350 head into the Tascam but I'm not getting any signal into the Tascam unit. Do I need to change something on the amp to send the signal through the DI out or should it automatically send the signal?

I took a look at some photos of the pieces you have. Please do not be insulted with any of these questions. I'm just trying to offer some help.
1) I assume you're using a mic cable(XLR to XLR) to patch from the head into the Tascam. Do you have the Volume turned up on the amp? If that DI connection is after the EQ section of the amp, then it is also after the volume/gain control. If that is too low, or off, you won't get a good level.
2) Is the volume up on your bass, and, does your bass have active electronics? If it has active electronics, when is the last time you changed the battery?
3) Does your bass work if you plug directly into the Tascam? If it doesn't, then trouble shoot that problem first.
4) Check to see if there are any FAQs on the Tascam site or user groups.
That's all I can offer without having the units in front of me.

No insult taken, I appreciate the help. To answer your questions:

1) I am using an XLR to XLR cable. The volume is up on the amp and I'm getting sound from my cab so I know the volume controls are working properly.
2) The volume on the bass is up (between 3/4 and full). The bass is active and had a recent battery change. Again, the volume through the amp/cab is just fine and recording direct from the bass into the tascam works fine as well.
3) Yes, as noted above.
4) I'll have to look into that. I bought the cable brand new so I didn't think it would be a dud, but I suppose it's a possibility? Would it be possible to use the 1/4 out from the amp (now going to the cab) into the input on the tascam or is that not a good idea?

NOT a good idea. The amplified signal going to your cabinet is way more powerful than the instrument or line level signals the Tascam is designed to handle. If you do it, you will probably kill your Tascam . . .

If your XLR cable is good (have you tested it with a microphone?), perhaps the DI out on your head is not functioning . . .

Just checked the manual for this head. You could use a 1/4" guitar cable (not a speaker cable which has the same plugs — instrument cable is shielded, speaker cable is not) from the effects send jack to connect to the Tascam. This is a line level signal which is post-EQ, so you will get the tonal settings of the amp into the Tascam. Hope this helps.

The XLR cable is probably fine. DEFINITELY DON'T PLUG THE AMP OUT INTO THE TASCAM INPUT!!!. You will damage the Tascam. Here are two other potential options:
1) If you have an XLR female to !/4" male adaptor, you could go from the XLR out into the 1/4" male input on the Tascam
2) You can try a regular guitar cable from the SEND on the send/return loop and plug into the Tascam. That MIGHT work.

I just took a look at the Owner's Manual for the DP008. If you are plugged into Channel A, make sure that you are using the Channel A trim control to increase the level to the Tascam. This will apply for both the 1/4" and XLR inputs.
