Yahoo Fantasy NHL time

If you look at your roster you'll see all the stat categories.

Each category awards points not by quantity, but according to your rank among the other players in the league. So if you're in first place in a certain category, you get 10 points (because there are 10 teams in the league) in that one. If you're in second place, you get 9, and so on, and in last place, 1. If you're tied with another, you both get the same amount (the system also does half-points to make things equal).

I totally spaced the draft yesterday,...and it probably wouldn't have mattered since I had a full day of rehearsal and bike riding. Either way I managed to draft Mike Richards and Danny Briere as well as Zach Parise and one of the Sedins (Daniel). I would have liked to have had some higher plus/minus defense and some better goaltending but I have no idea how my team will play out,...so we'll see. Win or lose this should be fun.

I thought there would be more players on our teams. IIRC the mock draft consisted of 2 forward lines and 2 defensive pairings but these have 3 forward,...2 D a "utility player" and a goaltender,...plus the bench. I'll have to look and see if any of my players are injured. Does the bench count towards your point total?

The bench does not; only active player slots do.

I didn't do the live draft either, but I set it up that way because some people enjoy live drafts.

Well, as a newcomer, it was a good to see how things worked. I mean, I saw the "pre-ranking" feature and all that, but to have a full pre-list of my preferences, I would have had to rank something like 140 players (10 teams * 14 players), and I got tired after 20 :p
I just went seat of the pants after the first couple rounds.

I like the live draft, gives more flexibility and on-the-fly adaptation. I set up my first few rankings for each position, and kind of kept in the back of my mind who I wanted if I couldn't get those players. I'm pretty happy with the way my team ended up, but there's a few people I have on my watch list just in case anyone wants to get rid of them.
