Yeah it has a small piece of foam that is adjustable with the screw, it's pretty cool!

Don't use anything with silicone in it.

There are fretboard oils available. Lemon oil works nicely.

It's a cool bass. I like to have an odd ball kicking around to bring out for special shows, maybe just a song or two.

I bet it is going to be quite collectible.

What a cool bass, and in great shape, from a very short lived (but colorful) time in Yamaha's history!!
If you dont connect with it, plus it looks like you can sell it for a good chunk of $, maybe eventually sell it.
I would just say let it hang around a little while... see if you start picking it up more. Or see if you start to feel you'll regret letting it go, since it is such a cool piece, and not too easily replaced.
I know for me, doing quite a bit of recording, I hate getting rid of instruments cuz you never know when that one might have THE perfect sound for a track. But that's me...(maybe a slight hoarder when it comes to music gear! Ha!)
Either way, good luck!! Hope you either learn to love it or it goes somewhere it will be loved!! (Does that sound overly dramatic for a piece of wood w/ strings?!)

They're not what a 60's Fender would cost to say the least! The bridge is surprisingly decent with its individual bakelite type saddles.
I'm going to put some flats on it and see if i can connect with it in some sort of way ahahahahaha! The pickup really accentuates the short scale sound. Maybe it'll come in handy in a recording session and ill keep it around!

Put some low tension flats on there,bet it will sound especially great for recording.
