Yamaha bass guitar identify

Hello All,
I am new here as a member. (I have been lurking as a reader).
This Yamaha bass is for sale. I wish I knew the model of it. Any clues will be appreciated.

Honestly Yamaha makes fantastic instruments at any price point. It's probably a decent pick for a "starter" bass.

Unless its "broken" somehow, it will get the job done. And probably better than other options at the price point.

I have one in dark stain from the nineties. Pretty decent entry level bass, good playability, quality. and sound. I am having some issues finding suitable strings because i am picky like that.

Actually, @Marihino is correct and I was mistaken. It is a BB404 which has that scoop in the lower horn for better upper register access that the BBN4 lacks.

Yup, I think it's the BB404 as well. It's fun! A couple years before they put the fancier preamp in their jazz bass pickup configuration.

Yes, BB404.
I know it because I own one of these. Defretted it, covered the fretboard with West System epoxy and replaced the original pickups with Sadowsky hum cancelling PUs.
Nice fretless bass!
