Yamaha basses-- do they get any love on TB?

Hey TB'ers. I was browsing the evil auction site and noticed, there are a lot of high quality Yamaha basses for sale. Well, I mean I noticed there are a lot of them around. By looking at the pictures and descriptions, they seem to be a cut above in quality, components, etc.

I noticed Nathan East has used one forever, especially noticeable with EC, the Hollywood shows, etc.

So does Yamaha get any love here for their basses? I know they've always had quality musical equipment.

Compared to the lower models they made, with this one being made in Japan with uber-advanced technology, and for what this one went for originally, AND it's brand-new:

Yamaha BB2025X 5 String Bass Black, with Hard Shell Case

A lot of people think that their IRA and ARE processes are bs, but considering how much money they probably invested in these machines, I doubt they're worthless. Btw, the ARE is pretty much a roasting process (not as intense as ones like EBMM and such, but still roasting).

Thanks gentlemen. Very nice looking bass. I remember trying a Yamaha back in the late 80's and quickly dismissed it. I felt the neck was too thick for me. Now I'm sorry I didn't invest a little time in trying it out longer, especially since it was a lefty.

I see a lot of love for them on TB but not a lot of people playing them out in the world, I think basically for distribution reasons. For whatever reason, music stores will carry Yamaha drums, keyboards, acoustic guitars and brass/woodwind instruments but not Yamaha electric guitars and basses. I don't know why not because they have excellent offerings in both. The new Revstar guitars are quite good and the upper tiers of the Pacifica line are as well, and the BB and TRBX basses are each great for their own thing. But you don't see them in brick and mortar stores as much, and if you want to try before you buy, you wind up buying something else.

As a previous RBX374 owner, I have no complaint in term of build quailty and price.
Nothing wrong with the tone,great sound with pick, but just feel too aggressive or rock sound to me, and noise appear while finger touch the pole piece accidently.

I owned a pretty decent sounding and very good sounding Yamaha (BB104 maybe) jazz bass pick up config, built well. It was sold for a bargain to a punk rock looking young lady. Later I bought a used bargain basement priced RBX series P pickup config. It is my loaner bass, it is truly a budget machine yet way better than what I started with.
