Yamaha BB1600, opinions?

I have a chance to snag a BB1600 for a good price.

Differences between a 1600 and a modern 414? Or is it 604?... Well, I just wonder if it's a high quality, good caliber bass. I know this one is several years old but it's in very good condition.

Whatcha think?

I'm not too sure about the exact differences either but I'm sure BBs are always quality basses. Do you have a picture? Is the bass neck-through? Some of the higher-end BB models were.

I've played one briefly. Sounded very good. big and fat Pbass tones that are slightly more aggressive than a standard Fender P. The jazz pup gave it a bit more cut. Comfortable to play. I happen to really dig the body shape as well.
Yammy makes great instruments for the price.

I have a BB1600. Its pretty much superior to the new era BB414s if you get a good one.

Main differences include:
BB1600 has gold hardware, BB414 has chrome.

BB1600 has volume-volume-tone, BB414 has volume-tone-switch.

BB1600 has a neck finished like the body (mine's a nice wineburst) - BB414 has the natural neck.

The BB1600 is one of the greatest used basses you can grab today. I'd jump on it.
