Yamaha BB414

The Yamaha BB series is great. If you do a search I'm sure you can find plenty of info about it here.

I've tried a few and I thought they sounded great and are a good deal for the money. The ones I tried had a few small problems, though, such as sharp frets on one, and the switch gear/electronics are rather cheap. The pickup selector on one I tried broke, and I went to take a look at it and it was made out of plastic, hence why it broke so easily.

But as a first bass, I think they are great.

I'm a new owner of a black one, and I love it. It has a little more modern sound than the standard P I had been using, but it's a great tone to me. I really appreciate the versatility of a P/J pickup configuration, and I don't think you could find a better one for the money.

Oddly enough, I haven't found a need to adjust the original setup either, which is a plus.

I picked this guitar up in a shop recently to test a bass head, and ended up walking out of the store with it 30 minutes later!

I just purchased a used Black Pearl Yamaha BB414 for $250.00
I played one years ago through a Ampeg BA115 in a Rock N Roll covers band. It was the best sound I've ever gotten playing with a band. I can't believe it. I've owned expensive amplifiers and bass guitars but these two cheap products resulted in the best sound EVER!!!!!
