Yamaha BB850 - any info?

BBs have a really good reputation as solid, reliable, versatile basses.
I’d take it
Any BB no matter what price point is good imo
If your looking for a no frills PJ that sound slices like a sword then that’s it
Yamaha makes great engines, bikes, drums, basses, guitars, generators

I had one in the early 90s. It's an absolutely cracking bass. That one looks to be in great shape too. You should definitely get it! 
Looks more like late 80's or even early 90's, going by the shape of the pickup covers (same as on the early TRB series), the general look of the bridge and the pickup orientation. Early 80's BB's had the P pickup reversed, and different style bridge and pickup covers. The tunes look like Schallers - I've never seen these on a Yamaha BB before, they may be aftermarket. In any case, it should be a very good bass!

I have a BB614 and it’s awesome, Yamaha BBs are the business, great feeling and playing bass. I would say it’s the most comfortable playing bass I own. I can’t speak to the pickups in that one, but I have one of the lesser loved models and I think it’s great!
Now that you mention it, the bridge pickup has the wide mounting ears that I have previously only seen on TRBs.I know that it looks beautiful to me, and reminds me very much of my trbx174. I love the colors
