...what strings are you using?...I'm still rockin the stock set as my 415 is still brand new, but I've also been wondering what to strap it up with. I like lots of warmth and punch. I was thinking some flats but I dont know if I want to go that mellow.

On 'Random' the Yamaha is wearing Ernie Ball Slinkys
On 'Duo' the the Jazz is wearing Elixirs
On the other two clips the Jazz had Chromes .105's

Most of the bass tracks are going through either the line 6xt or a sansamp Para driver.

Back to the strings on the Yamaha - I struggle with that, too! I didn't want to lose the nice grind by experimenting with strings for eternity. I liked the way slinkys sounded on my former P bass, so I thought I would give them a shot. They sound nice recorded, but may be different live through the SVT. The Yamaha isn't the warmest sounding bass. Kind of grindy. Even on the just the P pickup. A nice grind at any rate.

I put a Chrome E string on the Yamaha once and took it right back off. I have a set of TI flats, but right now they are at home on the Jazz... for now...

I use ghs boomers to get somewhat warmer mids from my bb1200. It's a frettless though, so i guess this advise isn't that usefull for most of you

Has anyone switched out the pickups on their BB414? I put in a Nordstrand NP4 and the sound is fantastic. I am also going to try the Fender '62 Original. It's the baaaayst!
