I've got a Yamaha TRBII 4 string, I'll post a pic tomorrow, gotta bring the cam into the school to take a shot of it, and I have the RBXJM2 on order (I know, I know, it's a sig bass, but I'm a big DT fan, and I'm getting a killer deal on it since I'm ordering it through the music store that my school does all their business with for the rentals and repairs, etc.) Side thought - if anyone here has the RBXJM2, and I know a couple of you do, could you PLEASE share thoughts, etc on it? Thanks.

BB414 and 404. Talk about bang for buck! :smug:

Yeah DRs are cool, but if you want a similar sort of strings but then cheaper, buy Galli steels. They're absolutely awesome and cost abou 20 euros ($25 or so). Really great strings!

See I get my strings online and pay $20-$25 for a 4-string set (depending on if I get Hi-Beams or Marcus Miller Fat Beams). Juststrings.com I don't pay 45euros ($55-$60 or so) for a set of DRs. Nope, not I.

Nice TRB! Personally, I like my Amber Burst 5-string better =P

Thanks! The 5 strings are nice, but for some reason I just didn't care for the amber finish. I don't think the pic did the finish justice, but it was a quick shot under magnesium lights (ick....).

The music store rep came by the school yesterday with a copy of an email from Yamaha - my RBXJM2 will be in mid-December. Just in time for the birthday/Christmas, and more importantly, for winter break when I'll have a boatload of practice time unless it's cut short by snow days (we only had 3 last year, usually we average 8-10/year). ;)

I use D'Addario EXPs, but if anyone has suggestions for other strings to try I'm open to hear them. I'm considering some blue DRs for obvious reasons :)

what kind of strings are you all using on the bb414's?

I´m still using the factory strings it came with - Yamaha stainless steel 45-105s. Really warm, punchy sound with a crisp, modern edge. I guess I´ll order some more of these.

On the BB404, the factory strings (Rotosound, judging from the red silk wrapping) were so dead I changed them for XL 220s which complement the bass perfectly.

Where do you buy your strings then?

Check out some sound clips of my Yamaha BB414 on my myspace page. Check out the song 'Random.'
Thick and beefy with lots of growl!!!

Nice groove, Chris. I liked the little ditty remix. what strings are you using?

I'm still rockin the stock set as my 415 is still brand new, but I've also been wondering what to strap it up with. I like lots of warmth and punch. I was thinking some flats but I dont know if I want to go that mellow.
