Yamaha Owners

Just how many TBers are Yamaha owners or are Yamaha only players like me? Yamahas are great instruments and I would recommend anyone one to anyone looking for a new bass.

I play a BB604. I liked it at first note after trying out some economy basses in a couple of stores.
My reason was better get a real Yamaha than a fake Fender for the same money. My guitarist had just switched from a Fender Strato to a Fender Strato.
The newer was made in a different place and costed 1000 Euro more, so it must be much better . I did not want to go through that.

I have owned several Yamaha basses: BB5000, BB5000A, BB1600, TRB6, BB615 (current) all were great basses. Check out the Yamaha thread in the search function for more info.

I have a BB-450 from the eighties, plays very similar to the BB414s. The P/J setup makes it very well rounded.

I used to be part of the Yamaha army.Even in punk to metal which i play they did amazing jobs.I play Epiphone now but it hurt letting go of my 2.

I don't own one, but almost every Yamaha I've played, from beginner models, to the expensive ones, have been good sounding, good playing, solid basses. I'd definitely own one if the right circumstances arose.

Chronologically I've owned:

RBX250 - P Style Beginner (first instrument)
BB350F - Big Fretless J Style
Pointy Ibanez 5 -
RBX 765A - 5 String Active
TRB5 - Similar to the 765A, but stronger neck, more transparent tone

Oh yeah and half a dozen Yamaha Keyboards, speakers, and synths (all cool).

I'm about to yank the frets out of the 765A.

When you start with Yamaha, it's hard to find anything else playable for less than twice the price, so I just stuck with it.

I've been playing my yamaha ERB070 starter pack 200$ bass for 2 and a half years now, and I love it, it plays so good for a 200 dollar bass... I droped Dimarzio pickups in and now it sounds shweet...

Yamaha is a great company, always underrated...

I have a Yamaha Flute, and I love it. I don't like the basses though. The only bass I would buy is the John Patitucci model. If I had 3k to toss around.

BB605 owner here. I think its great though I did replace the pickups to get rid of the J hum. Even when I 'upgrade' to something 'better' I will still keep the Yammy.

An RBX774 is my main bass for long gigs because its alot lighter than my P..i like it and its good for a more metal tone..i also have a yamaha drum set i love(if that counts)
