Yamaha RBX 765A: Active or Passive Pickups?

I just got an old Yamaha RBX765A active bass. Come to find out, the electronics don't work. Almost every capacitor is fried, and a resistor or two.

Does anyone know if the pickups themselves are actually active, or if they're just passive pickups hooked up to a preamp?
I haven't found a clear answer through Google searches. If they're passive, I'm hoping to just get the bass converted to a passive bass, or maybe replace the preamp. If the pickups themselves are active, I'll just return it. (I would like to avoid that, I adore the body.)

Disclaimer: I know next to nothing about electronics, so if there's important information that would be relevant to this I would love to know.
Thank you!

Chances are very good the pickups are passive. If you unscrew one of them and peek at the wires underneath, then trace them back into the cavity, and one of them connects to the battery, that will tell you for sure.

I don’t know if this is a little too late, but they’re supposed to be active pickups. I’ve been trying to get as much info on mine, I picked it up used a few years ago, and all I’ve been able to get is that they’re probably EMGs.

I know this is old. I would like to buy your pickups.

They do have that good ass EMG sound and I think they are passive. You don't need a preamp with them just use Rickenbacker wiring and the push-pull tone cap and Wow wee! Throw that preamp in the trash or sell your guitar to me

Had to set the bass aside for a few years due to injury, and in picking it back up & sharing it with the partner, got curious about the pick-ups again, having completely forgotten I'd asked this question of the internet so long ago.

I'd clearly concluded they were passive pick-ups shortly after making this post and promptly replaced the pre-amp with a Seymour Duncan STC-3P. Not had a single problem in nearly six years even with my amateur soldering job and remembering the new pre-amp barely fit in the body, haha. I love this thing.
