Yamaha RBX 765A preamp

Hi guys

I just got (as the title suggests) a Yamaha RBX 765a in a trade, now the previous owner removed the preamp completely, which brings me to ask, should I try and track down the original preamp for the bass or is there a better after market alternative that I should use instead. Also what are the pups like? Are they worth keeping?

The bass will spend its life being backup to my Lakland 55-02 w/duncans and I play rock/country/metal.

Keep the pickups. They are not only pretty good sounding (I love mine!), but they don't have standard dimensions. No standard replacement pickup will fit.

Any good 2 bands preamp should be fine.

Aguilar sounds good with those pickups if you like a fatter rounder bottom. If you want pristine clarity and adjustability, the Audere is fantastic. Plus with the Z mode switch the Audere can make it sound like it has different pickups.

Hi, according to Audere, the Z mode preamp is not recommended for active pickups.

Has anyone successfully replaced/upgraded their preamp or pickups on the RBX 765A ?
I am convinced that a bass costing about 500€ new cannot have great picks ups or a great preamp in it. There must be a way to upgrade it.
