Yamaha RBX4 A2

Theres been a few threads on these here recently. I myself grabbed one a few weeks back. Major wicked bass is all I can say. ^_^
They are light and feel great. Now to me the necks are kind of hard to describe. They are fast and feel good but I know when I first held mine the neck didn't feel like I was going to like it. But then when I started playing it, that odd feeling went away and its smooth and fast. I dunno, it might be the way the neck is angled to the body or something but when you pick it up and grab the neck, to me, it just felt like it wouldn't be nice. But as I said, the moment I started playing it, all doubts vanished in a flash. This bass is wicked and I wouldn't get rid of mine for nothing!!!

I have one and really like it. I used it at practice a couple of nights ago and it played and sounded great. I don't think you would be disappointed.
Shortform after a month or so, cutting to the chase:
Cons: Unpredictable weight from one unit to the next, more of an issue with a "revolutionarily lightweight" bass -- Lights are totally silly, brightness level indicates nothing reliably and awkwardly only light two of three pots -- Clunky, if functional, bridge
Pros: Everything else. Very nice build, clean finish, true frets.

Ive lurked a bit on the other threads and I do see talk of weight inconsistency. The particular one I have it light as a feather and theres no neck dive issues with it. Sound and tone wise its a monster -- sounds a LOT heavier then it feels/is thats for sure. I am neither here nor there with the lights but I know everyone else thought they rocked. But yea, why didn't they put lights in the third pot?

The bridge Ive never given much thought to. My first 'real' bass was a 79 Peavey T40. THATS a bridge and to be honest, normal sized bridges /to me/ seem 'odd' since Im so used to the massive anchor called the T40 bridge. That being said, the big bridge on the RBX4 A2 to me seems 'normal'.

I have one and it is pretty cool... Except that the relief on the neck looks like its a long bow. What you've heard about the truss rod in *some* of the basses is correct; mine absolutely won't budge. After some "minor" stripping, I'm waiting until I have some time to take it into a tech.
In summary, I agree with what everyone said about the excellent tone and cool looking construction. The truss rod, on the other hand, seems to be an issue on more than a few of these. Believe me, I've dealt with stiff truss rods before, but this is in a class of its own
If yours has one of the stuck truss rods, you should probably take it in for a professional setup. The bass is awfully nice, and you REALLY don't want to adjust it with an allen wrench and a hammer. Not that I would have tried that, of course... By the way, does anyone have a RBX4 neck that they'd consider selling?

Im not sure of a tech in my area that I would trust to try and deal with any potential truss rod issues with my A2. And Im afraid mine is probably one of the ones with the stiff truss rod. The bow in it is odd and pretty noticeable. The neck isnt warped or twisted but that bow starts around the 6-7 fret and then goes on down to the end, more pronounced though toward the beginning of the bow. I mean I can play it ok like that, Im used to playing necks you can use strung like a bow, notch an arrow and let fly, but Id rather get it fixed.

I'm OK with the black one, but if I'd been one of those wanting the white one and grudgingly settling for the black, I'd really be bent about now!

I'd have rather had the white and if it had been on sale when I bought mine, I'd have gotten it, but I'm happy with the black one, it's a great bass.
