Double Bass Yamaha SLB Replacement Bridge?

I'm wondering if any of the SLB owners (100, 200, 300) have replaced the bridge on their instrument? I'm considering it because the one on my 300 is really crudely finished, which makes me wonder about the overall quality.

It seems the issue would be finding the right size to match the leg spread of the one that is shipped with the bass. A bridge for a 1/2 size bass is close, but not quite right.

Any suggestions or experience? I'm also going to call Yamaha and check with them.

Update from a very nice person at Yamaha parts dept: a replacement bridge is available; 8 - 12 weeks to get one; cost is $131.34; part # is VCN 03900. She said it would be just like the one shipped with the bass.

before you spend the money, are you worried about the cosmetics of the bridge or its integrity or both? Yamaha is a quality-driven company, so I'd be surprised if they sent you a defective bridge. It might just look rough.

It does look rough. It may be that the finishing is not important to them. That’s ok with me. But if the lack of attention indicates an overall lower quality in the actual bridge, then that becomes an issue.

The bass is still really great, and I would not abandon my daily use because of the bridge.

I see:

Here are a couple of additional measurements not shown in the photo above: distance between external parts of legs 4.75 inches; distance between internal parts of legs 1.75 inches; thickness of bridge in legs zone .8 inch.

I did not. good info. now to measure the SLB300's bridge slot and we will know whether it would make sense for this bridge to be taken to a luthier for further fitting.

I’m not with my bass now, so can’t post pics. Center to center is approx 3-3/8ths I think.
