I have this exact bass but it's fretless and it has an EMG preamp... I don't know why, but it just came that way, I have no idea what year it was made. I love the sound and it plays great, my only problem is that the output signal is very low compaired to my other active basses. I am sure that is an issue with the preamp though.

Yeah, they really please me aesthetically. The cutaways really set these apart from the 2nd generation TRBs visually! Love that layer of Ash showing...

Mine's completely stock and came with extremely low action. I had to raise it for more atttack and sustain! I would love to hear your version of the bass!

Do I get to join? Some folks on this board have said that they believe that this is an old TRB faked out with Gretsch knobs and a Gretsch headstock. Does it pass?

my TRB 1006. Believe it or not some tweaking canmake this sound as burpy as a p bass rather than the modern tone assosiated with them. Its a shame the preamp suxs... i want an audere.

i didn't like the original knobs as they looked very cheap so I got some gold ones. Added my obligatory Star Wars knob, gold strap locks and 'unique' string choice

hi guys... help please.. i have a TRB-6 jpn.. but the fretboard are rosewood..i'd like to change it into ebony, opinion please...

umm..does anyone ever tried to change the TRB-6 preamp circuit?
i also like to change it with aguilar OBP-3.. is that combination (yamaha6string j pickups + aguilar obp-3) gonna produce a great sound?

yeah.. u know.. most of yamaha artist series (and other high end basses too, i think) are using ebony.. it had something special to influence the sound overall.. right?
and about OBP-3.. surely i have no doubt to combined it with the original yamaha pickups.. must be great
