YAMAHA TRB CLUB

I came across this one, last June ! Picked it up for $1,050, I think. I've owned about 30 basses in my lifetime and this is one the best. I love the tone. Nice mids with some solid depth to the notes. It's like blending a p bass with a stingray. The B string is about as good as you get at this scale. I have a fairly heavy hand and I can dig in a bit on this one. That says a lot, imo, for a bass made at a time where 5'rs were still pretty rare.

Is this made in Taiwan or japan? I’ve come across made in Taiwan So I’m just curious. Looks great by the way- nice pickup

No, swapped pickups also. Yes, the originals did hum without the Yamaha preamp. I ordered a custom made set, dual coil + split coil instead of two single coils.
Ah, yes...
What pickup and preamp you ordered? Sometimes I also thinking to change, the electronics, but this bass has it's own character.....
What do you feel, how alter the upgrade the bass sound and feel?

Got myself a used TRBX505 as a backup bass. It's a decent player, lightweight which I love, and sounds beeeeeefy!

They are made by an Italian company, "MAMA pickups". Preamp was made also by an Italian tech, totally handmade.
The TRB typical character remains while having more tonal options (beefier bridge, passive tone, no hum, etc..), and more controllable EQ points in active mode. But it's still a TRB indeed.

Hi Yamaha TRB lovers! I'd read your threads and noticed many of you had replaced pickups in trb1006 basses! I would like to buy bridge pickup, because dummy coil on my pickup is broken and the noise is soo huge! I guess some of you stil have this original pickups and would like to sell 'em! Or I can tread it for EMG 45 JCS - a noiseless single coil pickup in humbucker shape.
Love & peace!

Not easy to replace the original PUs in TRB 6 basses, because size is not standard Bart or EMG soupbar size....
Somebody replaced with Delano 7 string pickups, or some manufacturers offers custom size options, like Nordstrand, Aero and Häuser.....
