Does anyone know if the TRB 100X series is being discontinued? i cant seem to find the TRB1006 in any major inet stores like music123 and thomann.

Well.....I pulled the trigger on the last known new TRB1006. I have called everyone, everywhere looking for one. And I got a smokin' deal from BassNW. Best of all, my wife said I should buy myself something since I work so hard. Hehehehe!!! I love her!!!!

Thank you my good Dr. I am a little worried about the 10.8 lbs, but I should be okay. I just have to condition my back for the weight. I have been spoiled recently by sub 9lb basses so this will take some getting used to.
I saw a few people looking for one of these and I had to pull the trigger before it went away. Plus, it is the ONLY one I found in this color. All of the other ones were nat, trans black or red.

I own an old Yamaha TRB6, the bolt-on neck but with the older John Patitucci three-preset mid control.
However, it's making some popping noise, almost as if there's electrical shocks happening from time to time. Apart from the pops, the bass is dead silent, so it's not an inherent grounding issue.... I don't know how to describe it... it's very annoying indeed!
And I have a feeling it's coming from the pups, as it sometimes feels as if my fingers get a slight electrical shock when the pop occurs. As if the pups are charged and discharge through the fingers every now and then to the strings.
Apart from the popping, I really love the sound of the bass. Maybe the preamp could have been more sophisticated, but all in all I like it. Has the "Patitucci" sound in it, so different from my other basses.
But any help on the preamp/electronics issue would be nice!

I'm from Costa Rica. I own a BB3000A (from 91) and a old RBX350, that I turned into Fretless myself. But I'm planning to buy a 1005, and here's where I need your help.
I need to now the dimensions of the pickups cavity, or, the pickups dimensions un order to modify it with a Ken Smith circuit, but also Ken Smith pickups. Is this possible? What do you think about it?

I think its not worth it, the pickup cavities are very long, there is no plug and play replacement in the market for yamaha stock humbuckers, i know this because i did my research on pickups for my own bass long ago.
However the preamp is crappy so you can upgrade it if that makes you happy and you wont have to make routing covers or anything more complicated than welding some wires.

I'm not quite satisfied with it yet as it's not set up properly but I'm sure that once I get the action and pickup height adjusted it'll sound great.

I just bought a used,older version Japanese, TRB5 II. I open the the control cavity, and I saw 2 trim pots. Could any body tell me what they are for? Cause I tried to turn them clock wise and counter clockwise, but I hear no difference in volume or tone.
ANy help would be appreciated.

Any word as to why and when they're discontinued? And why are thr TRB4 and 5ers still running then? Demand perhaps?
Has anyone done an active/passive switch on their TRB's? I know they are passive pickups and can work, I am just wondering what your result was. I would love to have a switch on mine.
I don't know why they disco'd them. Every store I have called is yet to know why they have done that. It might because they are coming out with a new model.....
