YAMAHA TRB CLUB

I've a question:

I have a Yamaha TRB6P single truss rod bass and the neck keeps moving. I'm starting to get nervous because I would often keep adjusting it.

I did see someone here sell his because of this. Will it help if some correction on the neck is done? Maybe have someone had carbon fiber strips to it? Here he is.

I have a new TRB JP2 with the dual truss rods. Even with the quarter sawn maple laminated neck, I find myself adjusting the truss rods a lot. I live in Jamaica, so the high humidity and variations in temperature and wet and dry weather means I am constantly adjusting truss rods on all my basses. Don’t worry about it - loosen the strings before adjusting, and turn the truss rod 1/8 of a turn at a time. The only other alternative to truss rods is carbon fibre necks, which sound a bit lifeless to me.

I've reached out to one of the luthiers here in the country. I'm looking at Wednesday next week to visit him and consider putting carbon fiber rods in the neck.

hey i am a proud owner of a 98 TRBJP 4 II is it pretty much the predictor to what the 1004J would become

i MIGHT sand off the orange otterpop color to natural wood lol i pretty much stole it for $850 out the door lol no case tho....

the anime Bocchi the rock made me go hunting i got a 1004 in natural sniped from me for 600 With CASE cause i got paid late i was so mad i hunted more and grabbed this for a bit more... i also made a pacifica clone made out of a 112 not a 611 lol

Any TRB betterment mods i should know about?

maybe a better Pre amp if so what ones would you recommend

also what gauge strings do you normally run? i have some unknown lights on it and seems a bit slacky on 35 in scale? also anyone make the 1004 style inlays i want to get the look as lol

Hi,

I have a '03 TRB6II and I've read several reviews claiming the stock preamp sounds too 'modern' or lacks low end, but honestly, mine sounds excellent, especially with a band. The first time I played it on a gig I was blown away by how good it sounded, especially with the front pickup at 60%, the bridge at 40%, bass boosted just a tad, and mid/high set flat. A little certainly goes a long way with this preamp. Now I know this is not your bass, but I recommend you give yours a chance before assuming it needs a 'better' preamp. Don't judge it by how it sounds in the bedroom. You might be pleasantly surprised.

does anyone have like a full History of the TRBJB series leading into the 10004J/05/06 info seems super sparse even on here

or is it just welp here they are deal with it

TRBJP4 II's seem even more rare lol as 95% of what i see here are 5 and 6ers

There isn’t much of a mystery. Yamaha decided to develop an extended range bass based on market needs. At the time the biggest thing was bass players doubling or copying synth sounds.

Then they made adjustments as time went on but there seems to be no rhyme or reason why they kept changing pickup types and electronics.

They were one of the first, if not the first company to produce an extended range instrument that wasn’t a custom job. They got a lot of guidance from Michael Rhodes and Lee Sklar, but also a lot of input from Japanese fusion bassists.

LMAOOO ******* lol jk i got paid late and it was gone before i could get it!!!! can you make me the 1004 inlays and send them to me lol as my TRBJP 4 II has dots everything else is right minus the amber color but its growing on me slowly even though i also want to sand it off lol

i need a case for mine is that a molded case for the 1004?? also link me to the sake I NEED IT

i'm the street performance was soo sick i was like I NEED HER BASS also sick hack is dope we NEED A FULL ALBUM i can play half of it at 150bpm lol the 186 is murder

i can play it wayyy better now but the last few runs are so hard lol

also it seems like she has locking tuners lol

Not a molded case, just a basic universal Gator hard case. The sake you can get at Spec's if you have one nearby, it's called oni koroshi and it sucks and is mad overpriced considering they're like a dollar a pop in Japan but over $4 each here. It's a funny prop to have around if you're a Hiroi fan though lol

My experience is just the same. Amazing sounding bass. Excellent pickups and preamp, the more time you spend learning how the preamp works, the more rewarding.

Right now my two TRB6 are my favourite sounding basses, along with my workhorse, Lakland 44-02.
