Welcome to the brand-new Yamaha TRBX Club @ TalkBass!

I'll help you get this going Ponsonby_Britt....here's my TRBX305....love this bass...easy to play with ultra low action and the quick 5 position "performance EQ" for some quick tone changes on the fly....

Have any of you had pickup noise or any kinda noise that shouldn't be? I got a buzz and I got brand new planet waves patch cables and speaker cable for cab. Doesn't do it with either of my ltd's and one of them is active. I have a 305

Not sure why i didn't see this thread before now. Ive had my 505 since last Oct. Im ashamed to say that it went from a fantastic bass, last one ill ever need to buy etc, to my back up bass. I was going to sell it but no, its too good to sell and i can see me using it again at some point.
Not had any real issues with it, and the electrics are dead silent on mine. I love narrow necks and the TRBX is the first neck ive played that has felt like a 4 string bass.

Can i get a number please?

Hey TRBX club. I thought I'd put a couple of clips in here of both my 305 and 505 basses. I actually no longer own the 505 as it had some preamp problems that I just couldn't work around. The 305 will work fine for what I need it to do and it really is a good sounding bass. The first track is the 505. I got these tunes off of Wikiloops so they are what they are. I just played the basses into my Boss BR1600 and pretty much left the stock channel settings alone, other than some slight compression. I boosted the lows and mids just past half and slightly favored the bridge pickup. Second track is the 305. Same settings at mixer and had the EQ switch set to flat and just slightly boosted the bass knob with the p/u pan in the center position.

And THAT is why they are such fantastic instruments. They sound awesome.

To my ears (when playing them back to back) I agree with this. It seemed the 505 (which I no longer own) had a broader range of frequencies that would pass through the system whereas the 305 almost seemed like it had rolled off lows and a slight roll off of the highs where it created a punchy sort of compressed tone. The 505 actually had a "woodier" sound to it as well and I liked the slap tone of it better. For those clips I slightly rolled up the mids and lows on the 505 and favored the back pickup. On the 305 I think I left the pickups centered, set the switch to flat and rolled on the lows a bit.
