Yamaha TRBX305 Preamp Replacement

Thinking about picking up one of these as a backup/beater bass. Comfortable bass, and not terrible pickups, but I greatly dislike the preamp. If it was a normal 2 or 3 band i know which way i'd go, but it's not. So what we are working with is:

Master Vol
Balance
Bass
Treble
5 way EQ switch

That 5 way is throwing me off.

What would you guys recommend in this case?

A lot of people seem to like the new darkglass preamp, but it doesn't have selectable midrange. The Audere Pro Z is amazing. If you want a meatier tone, the Aguilar OBP-3 has selectable mids.

I ordered a Bartolini NTMB 4.6 A/P 3 band eq (4 knob config). Still waiting for it to come in. Ill update when I get it in the bass.



Edit: Got everything installed and the improvement is significant! Way more boost and cut capabilities, and also more headroom ( i went 18v). Was just what this bass need to get a multitude of great tones! No distortion, no hissing, no fuzz or interference.

I installed the latest Ibanez preamp in mine with 3 mid position switch... sounds great now
