I didn't think this find warranted it's own thread, but I did snag this little thumper last spring at a yardsale (for $35!!) while I was visiting a buddy in Albuquerque--

That's a real score, even more so sense you have the partner.

I've only had luck at a yard sale once, I saw an ad for someone with a yardsale a mile from me with a bunch of random music accessories and "1 broken Fender Amp" I went towards the end of the scheduled time not expecting much and low and behold they had sold almost nothing and the amp was a Fender Prineton Reverb that I bought for $10... took it home and it worked perfectly lol....

Anything that will fit a Hofner 500/1 ought to fit a Cougar. In fact, that's what I rocked my Cougar with back in 1966-68. Had to keep the original set on once I got them installed, she put up such a fight whenever I tried to remove the G-string.

Awesome! I found my bass in the trash.... but a Vox is wonderful its a true piece of history as well as a wonderful axe! Thats just wonderful I need to look for a small All tube practice amp!

And I doubt that the second pic is the chrome reflecting light. Second pic they look like pyramid white plastic covers, first one they look like chrome flat covers.

Nice buy. Assuming the bass is full functional, you got it for a friendly price.
It kind of reminds me of an Eko Barracuda bass.
