Yay!

Today was a completely normal day for your average dedicated 14 year old bassist: learned Pulling Teeth by Metallica, jammed for 3 hours, and played video games. Today was one of those wonderful Teacher meeting things(no school) I'm sitting down and my best friend, who's in a band with this awesome kid named Trey, texted me "hey. Are you home?" I said "...ya.. Why?" he didn't respond. Trey lives in a subdivision within walking distance from my apartment. About 10 minutes later, I find him &trey at my doorstep. Im in my day off garb: pjs & no underwear (eww!!!!) so they ask to come in. Then, they go into my room. They ask me to play me some bass for them. My friend, 9 years playing, already knew I was "good". I played them some Pulling teeth from this morning, peace sells, and some foos. I then got invited, or rather begged, to join their band, being that their bassist can't even play "Rope". I said "I'll think about it". But I already knew I would, because my best friend talked about how he's going to be playing gigs.
So, at the age of 14, a freshman in highschool, I'm having to learn an about 15 song set list and will be paid money to preform.
This was a very, very good day. XD

Congrats, dude. Hey, I made my first music dough at age 12, on piano, no less, for some country club affair. I think I got $10 for an hour, or so. That was 1962. First band at age 15 in 1965, and another $10 for playing for the bass player's mother's garden party. Heh, heh. I'll never forget. Neither will you.

(: actually, funny you talk about piano. I've been trying to pick it up now & then, but it's not like bass. You can't just look up songs and learn scales and *shazoom* you're a pianist. So I've been taking the notes from simple songs (I learned stranger things have happened by foo fighters last night) and playing them on piano.
Also, the kid & I are going to jam today, which should be fun & let me know him better. I also figured out that the kid, trey, isn't cheap. He charges 100$ a gig D: so my cut (I offered to play for free) is 25. The first real practice is on Tuesday. So excited!
