Yeah, i know. But it'd still be pretty pricy. What i really want to do is get a Lakland hollowbody and have Alembic build my version of The Godfather that Phil Lesh owns.
(Or have Alembic build the whole thing, that'd work too.
)
To get back to this, the site has no information design whatsoever.
To get your quote down to a "reasonable" price, at the bottom of the form, there are buttons for the different models available. The default one is the Series II, which starts at 19,500$. Change this.
I like to think that it's natural selection in action; anyone willing to pay $22K for a bass probably shouldn't be breeding anyhow.

- Full disclosure, I'm a certified Fender technician working in a music store that carries Fender, Yamaha, and Ibanez products among others.
I've already got four kids. My desire to obtain a Series II with my name on the headstock remains undiminished. If anything, seeing how expensive kids are, an Alembic looks downright cheap, and will bring in cash faster than waiting for my kids to get rich, too.
Ok, substituted Europa for Series II and the estimate is $10,600, so what i would actually pay would be between 8 and $9k, right?
not worth the cost. though i must say (obviously made for those with the money) but i think i would pay the cost for a ritter royal ( i heard some get to cost up to $100,000 ). even a standard, those are worth the cost
I think the Flora Aurum is the $100,000. Yeah, never spending that much on a bass. I don't really dig Ritters anyway.

That's a little different, you already have children. I'm sure i would choose mine over anything if i had kids. I'd be more willing to spend the projected quarter million on my kids from birth to high school rather than 20k for an Alembic. I was joking mostly because i'm seriously GASing for an Alembic.
Got a custom quote on an Alembic and it's $22,100 after i tried to make it as no-frills as possible.So it's either kids or an Alembic, unless i win the lottery or get an extremely well-paying job.(Not likely because i hope to teach a band class)
(BTW Larry, a sparkly purple fretless Jazz might ease the pain of Alembic-less-ness)

Sir, I am shocked and appalled.
I'll put it this way. While the sound is decent, I would be surprised if the amplification was not the biggest factor in that sound, and if a -significantly- better sounding bass could not be had for thousands less.

OTOH, kids cost a LOT more each than $22K! But at least you get to make time payments....for a long time.
And they give back more than you can imagine.
