Have a hard time, to believe it had to do with phase cancellations, since the mics are of different kind. The one that goes to TV studio, Outside broadcast rig, or anything else would be more plausible. Heck, there must be something that you could find on google. But I don't know why they should differ the mics caracteristics as fast as you sang into some recording unit.

Very digressive and OT....though.

I've never ever understood dictators and politicians bent (or fetisch) towards a stack of microphones. I would love to know the rationale behind this, just soundwise. It's the equivalent of "speaker stacks" I think. But for righteousness and crocked politicians. Maybe they're askew deliberately to balance their own speech? If it's slightly too left wing biased, you can angle it a bit to the right, so the right... no, forget it...

Ridiculous.... but true.

My guitarist just finished building his 3rd 100watt Marshall stack for our live sound. I'm a little concerned he will be drowning me out.... I use a Hartke Kilo with twin AK410 cabs. I figure, I have one of three choices.
1) Get 2 more cabs, probably 15"s. I wouldn't be able to bridge them, due to impedance. But, I believe I could run the 410s on one side and the 115s on the other in stereo mode. That would be 2 x 350watts @ 4 ohms.
2) Get a 2nd rig...... yikes $$$!
3) Always rely on P.A. support to balance things out.

Any thoughts?

That's what I thought, I mean usually here in the states you can see the network labels on the mics.

Buy him some In Ear Monitors. He can be as loud as he wants without everyone else having to suffer through it.

He should buy some nice, possibly custom made for improved isolation, in-ears for himself, not for his guitar player! And turn up with no amps at all, just with pedals or DI into the FOH. That's what I'd do, to get on his nerves

You're afraid he might drown you out? A Fender Twin with EVs can do that and kill small animals.

I'd decide if I was hanging with a musician or a poser. I don't mean to sound mean. Some folks get stuck in a image in their minds which doesn't always translate to real life. Is it a look and he's only using one cab? Does that look represent a significant marketing/image advantage for your band? Is that image part of your goals. What are your short term and long term goals as a bassist. Would you have four more cabs and two more heads to represent your sound? Why or why not?

Can you just play with some other people?

Ahremm...a short history lesson seems to be appropraite. This is dictator Ceacescu of communist Romania back in 1989. They had NADA different media. Zilch. Just ONE radio/television/whatever media owned and controlled by the state. That's why I am wondering. In democracy countries you see mics with the different channels logos on. Just for their own recording. I still wonder how and why this was made. They might got paid in timbre, mics, pa system if they couldn't get paid in dollars...

Of course, those dictactor can't brag with a stack of Marshalls behind them, so they choose to brag with mics. The more mics, the more important they seemed, but listening to what they really said into those mics... maybe it's so with the guys who has Marshall stacks too...

mind you, it's almost always commies. Maybe they tried - cunningly - to make the speech slightly askew, everything they said was out of phase anyway, so they tried (in vain) to turn it in phase...?

So maybe the sound technicians was in fear in the commie countries, not even get paid, because they didn't, but get killed, so they blamed each other if one mic was faulty?

That's not far from the truth. I remember on a gig in Russia a couple of years ago we were having a few, shall we say, 'difficulties' with the spec (as is fairly common in Russia and such countries). The backline that was provided wasn't at all right for what we needed and it was getting to the point where we were saying we either needed to get the right gear or we couldn't do the show, at which point the backline guy (who was a 6'5" metalhead kinda guy) literally turned white and said "if this gig doesn't happen I'll have no head". Judging from the colour he went and the fact he started physically trembling I don't think he was joking either...

Variable.
Sometimes there's one mic (or two, one for backup) going to a mixer, sent to a breakout/multi box press feed
Sometimes there are one million mics.

I'd tell him he can run one stack. And turn on the other two amps and leave them in standby.
