Have a hard time, to believe it had to do with phase cancellations, since the mics are of different kind. The one that goes to TV studio, Outside broadcast rig, or anything else would be more plausible. Heck, there must be something that you could find on google. But I don't know why they should differ the mics caracteristics as fast as you sang into some recording unit.
