Yet another dirt question

I am thinking -- only thinking at this point -- about acquiring some sort of dirt pedal. Dirt has never been my thing as I prefer natural amp overdrive, but I'm getting to a place where another flavour/texture might be useful.

Nothing synthi or fizzy sounding. Should have a full low end. I'd prefer something compact with top mount jacks to fit on my PT Nano+.

Not much to ask is it?

Suggestions please.

Creation Audio Grizzly. Does Overdrive, Distortion, has a mid scoop control, has an adjustable low pass filter. It's tiny. It has top jacks. It's a natural, transparent overdrive. Your search is over!

Search no further than the Damnation Audio MBD1.

My OD GAS completely died after I got mine. And I mean completely. It's in a league of it's own.
+1 on this, I find the MBD to have more top end available than most "tube sounding" overdrives but it slays. If you are looking for a tube drive, I have a Southampton 5th Gear that I have A/B'd to my SVT on 5, they are pretty darn similar.

That's one thing I love about the MBD, it can still clank even though it has this super robust bottom end that sounds very natural. It's all about that filtered clean blend. So good.

5th Gear is awesome as well. Adds some really nice heft and zest to your signal.

While I agree, the MBD is awesome, it doesn't meet some of the criteria: "I'd prefer something compact with top mount jacks to fit on my PT Nano+."

This meets all your criteria and @johnk_10 just added to his site...he's only going to make 2 of them, so jump on it and order it:

mini-XO

I have the larger version with 4-band EQ and just received it and only used on one gig so far, but it's awesome. The mosfet overdrive/distortion is very tube-like and you have full control over the crossover to keep your lows as fat and clean as you want. And being able to adjust levels of the highs and lows means you can tailor it to your preference and it's very easy to dial in.

Here's a link to the larger version that has a more in-depth description of the crossover, etc. and has soundclips posted:

Try posting examples from songs/videos of sounds you hope to achieve. This will help to get the most accurate suggestions.

Cheers

UPDATED: No bass on this, but this is the sort of thing I'm wanting to put dirty and doomy bass under, ie something to complement the guitar.

The Nano+. The L/HPF is always on. The DGVU is an amp substitute/backup for when I don't have my valve head to play through.

Dunno....for me the vt bass and the beta can make any gig sound good.

Sorry, had a VT Bass DI as my amp backup/fly pedal and I couldn't get on with at all. Had an Ampeg SVT III Pro at rehearsal the other day and it was not a happy experience. Seems I'm strictly an old school F/M/V passive tonestack and glass bottle grrrl. The DGVU does an admirable job of copping that sort of tone.
