Yet another dirt question

No bass on this, but this is the sort of thing I'm wanting to put bass under:

The Nano+. The L/HPF is always on. The DGVU is an amp substitute/backup for when I don't have my valve head to play through.

I really like the sound you’re going for. I can think of a few pedal combinations that could give you the dirty swelling reverb guitar sound from the track, but you would lose the low end. Can you think of any bass specific examples? I don’t want to lead you astray.

Sorry, this is an example of people divided by a supposedly common language ...

I'm not trying to emulate the guitar part, just to find a good deep dark and doomy extra dirt layer to put under it, rather than just 6550s/OT distortion -- if that makes sense.

I am thinking -- only thinking at this point -- about acquiring some sort of dirt pedal. Dirt has never been my thing as I prefer natural amp overdrive, but I'm getting to a place where another flavour/texture might be useful.

Nothing synthi or fizzy sounding. Should have a full low end. I'd prefer something compact with top mount jacks to fit on my PT Nano+.

Not much to ask is it?

Suggestions please.
If you're not adverse to having multiple pedals, one route you might take is to buy a pedal like the Boss LS-2 Line Selector. Don't pay attention to it's name so much, as what you can do with it is set up a wet/dry blend. The benefit to this is that you can choose from any overdrive pedal you like without having to worry if it is suited for bass or going to suck out some of your low end, as that is all preserved in the "dry" mix. I run a set-up like that for my board and it rules. I use, and get great tones from a proco rat, small clone, and a few other pedals that are typically off the table for a lot of bassists. Jut something to think about. Good luck!

Of all the demos I have have checked so far, this looks really interesting ... and is cat related (bonus).

Love my Rat/Cat King! It can do deep and doomy, as well as buzzsaw sizzle, and everything in between. Sounds gnarly with guitar, too.

Creation Audio Grizzly. Does Overdrive, Distortion, has a mid scoop control, has an adjustable low pass filter. It's tiny. It has top jacks. It's a natural, transparent overdrive. Your search is over!

This is my choice too. It can do clean boost and from 0 to 100 for O/D and also distortion. Top that off with the Funkulator circuit for slapping. I love the Grizzly. I’m sure there are others that might be great too but I haven’t found one yet.

Adding a clean blend, and second distortion is a real bonus. I love how customizable the Fuzzrocious pedals are. Their Demon pedal is also worth a look. Although, in my experience, these pedals go from zero to high gain pretty quickly on the dial.

The MBD-1 sounds great in the jazz bass demo, and it does boast the endorsement of Pissed Jeans! It's a tough call with limited space.
