I saw the Jazz bass suggested, however I'd incline to punt it as, say, a 1961 fiesta red, Precision, tort pickguard ( of course) totally original, light relic, inc original bridge and p/u guards...and wait for it, original tweed hard case...

He should be able to find some nice pics online from perhaps a 'sold' item, a couple of years old, on some website of one of those crazy expensive 'vintage' guitar dealer sharks...

Actually The Burnt One needs to purge a few, 5ers be gone. My P quest was over a couple months ago. Another BTB would be nice, and I stay away from red whenever possible.
