Which of these ones do you like?

The second would use a standard black/white/black pickguard to be able to fit a standard P guard later if wanted, but I would smoothly curve it in front of the pickups in the most aesthetically pleasing shape possible.

I don't like the modded PG as much as the full PG, but don't let my opinion influence you - it's your bass! My preference would be to start with a solid body and rout the control cavity in the back so you would have no pickguard whatsoever - and all black hardware. But I realize you already have the body and it already has a front cavity...
