Yet another tread about wisdom teeth

just got wisdom teeth pulled out earlier today. i'm finally back to my computer. the procedure was painless, i did not get the N2O though. right now my jaw hurts a little and my cheeks are swollen. i should be ok by the weekend i hope. my bottom lip and chin finally unfroze like 30 minutes ago.

sorry no tips.

i still have my wisdom teeth (at 31). years ago, i had four teeth removed to make room, but the wisdom teeth came in ok. guess i'm lucky because getting the others pulled wasn't that bad.

I had mine removed years and years ago, before marrying my wife, who is a dentist. I didn't have any problems, but I CAN tell you that you'll have serious problems if you wait too long. Impacted wisdom teeth can force all of your teeth out of alignment, leading to the need for braces. It can also cause TMJ problems which can cause severe and regular headaches.

If they're impacted, get them out ASAP.

mine weren't impacted, im 17, and they were still growing normally in the normal direction. but my jaw (lower) is a little too small for them, and they were causing crowding for all my lower teeth, so they had to be removed. my uppers didnt have to be removed, but the dentist recommended that i get all of them out at the same time so i dont have to do this twice.

Yeah, you might as well have taken them all out. Plus, it would have made it uneven and the two upper teeth would have been nearly useless (unless you consider gums as suitable replacements for teeth).

I just got all 4 of mine out a couple of weeks ago. Went pretty easy, I was in and out of the dentists in 45 minutes.
I got some nice painkillers too, there was a variety with caffeine which allowed me to not be completlhazed out and another with codeine which I really liked. I was fine after 4 days, still a little swollen but I could eat pretty much anything again.

You didn't get disolvable stiches? Mine are, they're apperently suposed to disapear once the wound is completely healed.

I had mine removed I think about 6 years ago. I couldn't find anyone to drive me home that I trusted. So I had all four pulled with just novacaine. Damn did that hurt, and the crunching sound I heard during the procedure still haunts me.

Easy as pie...never had stitches, never had a dry socket, never needed codeine. :hyper:

That's exactly how mine came out. Very quick and easy.

As I recall I didn't eat any solid food for close to a week, I ate soups and hot cereal. But the whole experience was much easier than I'd expected. I did have some swelling. And some slight pain, but the percocet the oral surgeon prescibed me helped ease that.
