Double Bass Yita DB bows

Where people have bought, are bows supplied with real horse hair? Or does it depend on type (=cost) of bow?

i bought a carbon fibre one from ebay. It had white horsehair. I rehaired it with black. Works OK. Robust, cheap bow.

my yita came with real hair, but not good quality at all and got rehaired within a couple months.

Is there such thing as "bad" horse hair then, or is it perhaps that a % of synthetic hair is added??

There are definitely varying qualities of hair. A huge part of whether a rehair is "good" or not has to do with the hair used and not the workmanship of the individual.

don't decide on a bow by the quality of the hair!!!! The hair is an expendable item a bit like strings. you can have a great bow with crap hair and vice versa.

if the yita bow is your first bow and at your price-point, you probably won't notice the difference anyway. save up and get it re-haired when u are ready ...

I bought a cello bow from them recently (their top model, which is still cheap). The bow (and hair) have performed well for me so far--not being anything more than a cello dabbler. Great bow for the price.
