That was nice. When the bass player started bowing those really low notes it was awesome. Such a powerful sound.

The last couple of months I have been on a Bluegrass binge. I am hearing music in a whole new way. I am becoming in tune with the instruments of bluegrass, and they don't turn me off like years past. I am open to the world of it now and Yo Yo Ma will be a wonderful path to go down ( I am not saying he's bluegrass ). I am a novice in it all but somehow, something has been triggered and I have an appetite now.

I moved to the center of the world last fall when it comes to Bluegrass music...south central Missouri in the belly of the Ozarks. Bluegrass musicians are everywhere here and most are very talented, even the young'uns. There is a music store/pawn shop about 10 minutes from where I live and every Saturday afternoon, they have a jam session of which I've sat in on a few of them. I'm kicking myself for leaving my URB in NH because I literally had no room for it in the van. I've learned that BG music isn't as easy as it seems...it's roots are in Celtic and Scottish music and with some of this music, there seems to be a melting of the measures together, rhythms can be tricky as well as chord changes. Good stuff though, for sure.
