Hadn't seen this clip but Yo-Yo is one of my favorite musicians of all time, a master at his craft.

Took my mom to see Perlman about 5 years ago. Worth it. I grew up playing violin but regardless, amazing.

Love the mans obvious joy and total immersion in music. He gives the same total commitment, playing with the Silk Road ensemble, Playing For Change musicians and every style of music and musician he engages with. It's clear that every type of music, all music, has value to him and he seems to draw so much joy from it.

Yo Yo and Silk Road are a major contribution to this.

Yo Yo is simply a beautiful human being. I played a private event at the home of a major CEO about 3-4 years ago. There were only like 25-30 people there. Ma was in attendance. He literally emits a beautiful bright shining light. You can feel his joy. He was really friendly and he made it a point to come over and complimented us as he was leaving.

I had the amazing opportunity to do a little show with Yo-Yo many years ago. He is perhaps the most charismatic human I have ever met in my life. Incredible talent, incredibly sweet guy.

Yes, the guy is a real treasure. One of the most natural musicians I have ever heard.

I just wish his parents would have had enough of a sense of humor to name him Yo Ma...... The marketing just writes itself.

Seeing Yo Yo Ma live was a great experience. It was really cool because I saw him at a venue at a community college with fairly cheap ticket prices. He could have done a more expensive elite venue, but he is really about the music and education.

Seeing Ravi Shankar live was another comparable concert although very different.

I've been learning Bach's Cello Prelude in G (yes, That One Cello Piece) on my six-string bass, and Ma's rendition has been one of my guide versions for pacing and feel. He's not my absolute favorite cellist of all time, but he's definitely the best one alive, I think. Love his work with Tan Dun (Crouching Tiger, Hero, and the Heaven Earth Mankind Symphony).

The last couple of months I have been on a Bluegrass binge. I am hearing music in a whole new way. I am becoming in tune with the instruments of bluegrass, and they don't turn me off like years past. I am open to the world of it now and Yo Yo Ma will be a wonderful path to go down ( I am not saying he's bluegrass ). I am a novice in it all but somehow, something has been triggered and I have an appetite now.
