yoga?

does anybody here do yoga?

since i started playing my trombone again i have been considering yoga to help improve my breathing. i hear learning yoga can greatly improve your lung capacity and help you to have more energy and flexibility but i don't know for sure. are there some books i can read or websites to look at or should i just start looking for a beginner yoga class?

Yoga can seriously improve not only your lung capacity, but also your ability to use that air efficiently. You'll also do this while remaining calm, and tension is the enemy in just about any athletic endeavor. You'll feel lighter, taller and more centered. You'll sleep better, and have more energy.

It's truly a wonderful practice...

What you're looking for are breathing exercises, it kinda goes hand-in-hand with yoga. Those are what you'd want to get better at playing trombone. You do a lot of breathing exercise while practicing yoga, but you can also do them without having to do all the stretchy stuff. If you pick up a book on yoga, it is most likely to have a section on breathing.

I don't do yoga per se. all that stretching and what not keeps me from clearing my mind. i am into deep breathing, and deep relaxation. i loves it

All the stretching and what not is exactly what helps you clear your mind. Single focus = clear mind.
