Too many things I'd need to specify:

string spacing, nut width, neck carve, fretboard radius, weight, number of strings, etc.

So I'm out.

I'd be giving up a collection of awesome Bordwell customs built to my specs for a random bass that may not fit me. Hard no.

Technically, I'm a designer. "Artists" provide works that ask questions and present problems. "Designers" provide solutions to problems.

I'm only clarifying because I was in the Fine Arts racket for a long time before I got into doing design.

Soo, there is no rule againts 1)building basses yourself 2)stealing basses 3)getting a bass as gift
I'd just choose the most expensive brand and bend the rules. Not a single politician/leader/businessman is playing by the rules anymore, why should we? :bassist:

Fun exercise :) If this was my last bass, I would want it to be a lightweight, ergonomic headless, and I can't think of many manufacturers whose whole line is like that, except maybe Strandberg. So... Strandberg. Which is funny because I would probably not buy a Strandberg, if not for those specific criteria.

It has to be something I've never played, so I think just about everything I can reasonably think of is out, especially since Stenbeck is no longer building and James Tyler is no longer making basses.

Ooo, maybe some kind of EUB if that counts? Maybe Eminence and hopefully they pick a removable neck model so I can transport it.
