Nah.....This is the deal:
1. You get one bass for free.
2. You can't sell\trade it (so price is irrelevant)
3. All your other basses are gone, and you can't buy basses anymore.
4. It is a bass company you never played\owned any of their instruments.
5. You choose a specific company \ luthier - but you can't choose the model you get.
Which company or high-end builder would you pick?

I'm in the somewhat uncommon position of only wanting to play 6-string basses, so not being able to choose that as an option is a dealbreaker.
If it's a thought exercise about the tension between being able to know what gear we really need, the ability to make do with what we have, and the consumeristic impulse to buy more fun toys, then I'm good. I have one bass I play all the time and I'm very happy with it, backup is out on loan to a friend, no interest in future purchases unless this one gets stolen or destroyed.
Add style of bass and passive/active to that, I'd go a passive 4 string jazz style bass from Mike Lull. Otherwise I'm not budgingYou can choose number of strings/fretted or fretless.
None, too many rules and unknowns.
And my personal choice is short scales. Although it seems there's more choices of those than ever, they're still in the minority. Not giving up the ones I have.
Alright then, frettless 5 it is.You can choose number of strings/fretted or fretless.
Reverend. I know theyre not boutique or whatever but the retro style just speaks to me.
In that case, super cool. Fodera fretted 6 string. You can choose number of strings/fretted or fretless.
