You Know You Have Too Many Basses When...

My girlfriend asked me why do I need so many basses, "you can only play one at a time" and I asked her how many pairs of shoes she could wear at one time. Argument closed.
A rare win for me.
When you're doing a two day session and you use a different bass on each song and then finally, on the last song, you pull out the old trusty p with flats and wonder why on earth you hadn't been using it the whole time.
Come on Boomy! Cripes I've got three SX six string basses alone! Maybe you mean three TYPES of basses. Hmmm. 4 string, 5 string, 6 string, 7 string, 8 string, fanned fret, fretted, fretless (in each number of strings) and then of course there is the Fender-old school vs Alembic/Ibby modern question... nope that just doesn't work either. Maybe three COLORS of basses. Getting better but not quite there. Ah I've got it. You have too many basses when you own one with more than three PICKUPS!!!! yeah, that's the ticket. Whew! I don't have a problem!
You know you have too many basses when your collection rivals or exceeds your local guitar shop.
Once you get 3 basses, you suddenly start thinking about all the other basses you could have or would like to have. Your addiction has begun.
lmao - this is so true - I've thought about partnering with a local independent music store to provide 'the bass department' - I've only been to 2 stores that had anything like my selection hahaha

I say the same thing to my wife about purses. Her response…my purses don't cost $3,000.

My collection exceeds my local music shops and I only have 4.. unsurprisingly all but one were acquired sight unseen
EDIT - I have 5 actually, forgot about one I took apart

I have six strings and four strings in various scale lengths...and a fretless. Too many? Probably. The current head count is eight, and I'm not likely to exceed that -- in fact, it might actually go down. Gigs in my area are drying up and I can't continue to justify the amount of instruments sitting around. Seems a shame. Maybe I'll get all philanthropic and donate one or two to a struggling school music program somewhere.
