You least favorite finishes

I don't really like natural finishes, always seems like the guitar is not quite done yet. I also don't like any kind of red finish. For some reason it doesn't quite click with me, which is odd because I'm ok and often love all other kinds of colors. One day I may own a neon orange and green bass, just no flat reds.

I can' stand black with a black pickguard and black hardware. Even worse is if it has a maple fretboard.

Haha! This thread is pretty much a bucket list of all my favorite finishes. I love natural wood, tobacco burst, bright colors, sparkles, and unique finishes. I guess I'm a weirdo.

The one finished mentioned here that I think looks horrible is is that translucent white Fender finish where the grain shows through. Butt ugly! I'm not a big fan of white finishes in general, and I also dislike purple finishes unless they sparkle.

Last finish I like is black, but I have to addmit that a black jazz with a tort guard is looking great.

I also don´t like ash or alder natural finishes.

I love white (any kind) and natural but depends on the wood type.

Also depends on the bass. For example a sunburst for a precision is the right finish.

I hate and love black. Love the way it looks but hate that I always have to clean my basses because they show fingerprints etc...lol

It's funny, I think black looks best when it's beat up and grungy. That's probably because my most heavily gigged basses over 30+ years have been black, and I got into the "every ding tells a story" mindset.

I avoid bringing my beat-up/dirty basses to black tie gigs, but I'm mostly a bar band rocker.
