Double Bass YOU - on youtube (DB forum thread)

PHIL - I took one look at you,
that's all I had to do
and then my heart stood still

Great tune and Pete is such a wonderful player. I heard a bunch of pianists at the MonkAThon a coupla years back and he and Mulgrew Miller were the only two cats I heard that had any kind of real line going one.
I really miss Dave and ONE STATION PLAZA too, I got to play there a few times with Bob Arthurs or Charlie Krachey...

Nice, Ed. Are you talking about the Monk event at the World Financial Center down at Battery Park? I went to see Pete there a year or two ago, wonder if were were at the same one. I got to know and study w/ Pete at my old school, where he still teaches. He was kind enough to give me a few other opportunities to play with him at One Station and even a nice little wedding gig. Pete's a beautiful cat and a really great teacher/influence. He invited me to the studio to see him, Dennis and Leroy record (I believe it was his "Autumn In New York" album).. Nothing but amazing learning experiences from all those guys. I think his "Invisible Cities" quintet's playing at Small's in the next month or two.

Yeah, good ol' One Station Plaza.. lots of cutting of the teeth back in my school days at their Wednesday night jam sessions. Got to play with Dave, Bob Meyer and whole bunch of other great musicians. Really too bad that spot's since bit the dust.

PHIL - yeah, that was it. I heard Ted Rosenthal, Frank Kimbrough, Aaron Diehl, Randy Weston, Pete, Mulgrew. But there were a buncha folks I dint get to hear - Helen Sung, Armen Donelian jeez I can't remember everyone.....
