Double Bass YOU - on youtube (DB forum thread)

Invalid Link Removed

This is from last night.
and just for the record I hate to play with with a bow, but chick singers sometimes really insist, "...maybe you could do something with the bow..."! yeah, I am sure I could do something with the bow!!! :0

anyway, those are Pirastro Obligatos, about almost 4 years old. I am also only using a Golden Trinity mic, going into a 210 GK ( club amp).
The bow is a carbon fiber, as I refuse to bring a wooden bow to a jazz gig! lol
The bass is a Fantasia model by Linear. It's a 3/4 size with a 40 inch string lenght. Other than that the dimensions are pretty standard.
Thanks for watching.

They were busy eating, Nathan. :)

Thanks, Eric & Trey.

Brad & I have done this trio gig 15 times with no tune repeats & no charts. He gives me a list & I give him one & we each call tunes off the other guys list. Fun, if you know some tunes. Brad Goode also has his Masters in double bass. Smart ass........

Somebody here threatened to put this up. I'll have none of that, so here....
The low B sounds nice but the rest of my playing is gag-worthy.
The tune's so old nobody else knows it so i'm safe I figure. :help:

Sounds great, Unc. Also love the double stops in the solo. I've been working on playing those 5ths in tune all over the neck, and it ain't easy. After hearing your solo, may I suggest you change the title to "Am I Red"?

Blessed be them with ears, DURRL. :D Thanks....

Yeah, I don't mind copping to the fact that I've copped Red every chance I get. It just seems to be part of what little voice I have on the instrument.
When he went to 5ths it kinda saved me because I can't do most of that **** in 4ths.

Blessed be them that change to 5ths so I can't steal yer ****. :help:

Paul, a couple of very famous musicians, John Lennon comes to mind, have said words to the effect of "amateurs borrow, professionals steal" Like Chris said, and most of us at least know this much, it ain't easy playing those 5ths all over the neck. I love all those Redisms.

Ok, ok...enough already. Thanks y'all, but this's gettin' to sound like "Enough about me, whatta YOU think of my playing?"
Carry on......next?

Here is me doing a cover of Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah. I've always liked this song and I felt inspired to give it a bass solo treatment. I never have "recording studio patience" with youtube videos so there's a few places that aren't quite 100% - but overall I'm pretty happy with it.

Shorter version that focusses on the slap portion of the song is here:
