My same band opened for Rick Derringer in 98 and he was one of the nicest people I ever met, We talked backstage for a good hour or so about everything from Edgar Winter to politics and gear.
That was awesome, That's about it for me

My band did that too! It was Rick, a bassist (I forget the name but AWSOME), and their girlfirends on drums and keys. Seriously! Great show! Good people! We had done a 1 hour set and they were all asking US questions about gear and playing and what not. What a night! I think it was earlier in the 90's though (tweny years of blurred memories).

To the OP, cool story!

Awesome story Bob!!!
Speaking of Zep, My Zep tribute band opened for Blue Oyster Cult in 91 They were such IceHoles, After them sitting in there trailer blowin a bunch of illegal drugs up there nose for two hours they wouldn't even take the time to meet us or anything.
No autographs no nothing they wouldn't even sighn my agents of fortune album. They pulled the plug on us after 30 min and there roadies practicly threw us and our gear off the stage.
Needless to say I broke my album in to little pieces while they were playing and left. To this day when ever I hear one of there tunes on the radio no matter what I change the station.
I'm stunned, because we opened for them last year and they were super nice guys. Maybe Rudy straightened 'em out.
White Lion before that, also super nice guys- they actually helped us load in our gear! Not the crew, the band!

The link in the post below is no longer valid, however it is also documented on the Led Zeppelin official website Invalid Link Removed

I can't speak for anywhere else, but the Led Zeppelin show in Kitchener (with CopperPenny opening) is documented in the local newspaper, complete with reviews, photos and promo advertisements. There is also some info HERE.

Scroll down to the Nov 4 date.

One band I was in opened for the Guess Who and Starship(featuring Mickey Thomas).

My current country band has opened for Alabama, The Marshall Tucker band (3 times), Charlie Daniels (4 times), Little Feat (twice), Pam Tillis, the Mavericks, Kurth and Taylor(Kurth is on the soap General Hospital).

I think that's it.

Chris A. :bassist:

What are the folks from Charlie Daniels like? I know I read or heard some comments from them that I didn't agree with. But then again they might be good guys with opposing views.

My metal band opened up for Ill Nino on a few dates of their tour.
That was one hell of a week. They're not a huge band by any means, but they sure as hell party like one.

So much drinking, so many girls, so much fun. Ah the debauchery. Just a non stop party.

My band was called Fueled II Fire. All the ex members of another Texas band called Pissing Razors. They were pretty popular for a while riding on the coattails of Pantera and the like. I however left/got kicked out due to me getting tired of playing exclusively on the down tuned B string the whole time. Not a lot of room for creativity in that genre. (for bass anyway)

Indeed John. You might remember me. Me and my band played that Battle of the Bands at Sideline's with you guys a few years ago and used Eric as our drummer. I was the one playing the Hofner "Beatle Bass". I played with TNT about 5 times a few years back when Nathan was inbetween bass players.

AHHH--I remember it well..I think I was the 2nd oldest guy there (besides Dennis);)

Opened up for Johnny Paycheck , The Osborn Brothers(BlueGrass Duo ) Kinky Friedman & the Texas Jewboys , Mickey Gilley , Hank Williams Jr. , Willie Nelson came on stage with us and played for over an hour at The LoneStar Cafe' NYC in 81', Opened for Peter Frampton in 82' at Merriweather Post Pavillion in Columbia,Md.
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh.....those were the days of chaos on the road !

Grisslehead

May 21st of this year, my band opened for Exodus in Jacksonville, Florida (our hometown). We also opened for the band Naked Beggars a couple of years back, which is the new band for Cinderella bassist, Eric Brittingham. Got to meet both bands, get autographs, pics, and some cool memories.
