You opened for WHOM???

Queensryche, UFO, Primal Fear, Alice Cooper, Iced Earth, Testament, Death Angel, Kingdome Come, Anthrax, Angel (still dressed in all white  But great guys!) and more... This was at the Bang Your Head 2004 festival in Balingen Germany in late June. I was playing w/ "Ballistic" at the show. A blast!

* Vinnie Moore - now the guitarist for UFO was the highlight for me! His outstanding lead work was actually giving me goose bumps throughout their set! An incredible player and sounded the best by far!!

WOW! Vinnie Moore! No lie, I just finished listening to "Meltdown" like, 5 min ago! I thought he had fallen off the face of the Earth! He's in a band called UFO? I thought he was way better than Yngwie back in the day!:hyper:

My old band, Closer, opened for Supergrass, Chumbawumba, Edwin Collins, Swerve Driver, Love Spit Love (featuring Richard Butler of the Psychadelic Furs) and Monaco (Peter Hook from Joy Division/New Order). We played bills with the Mooney Suzuki, Nada Surf and Splender here in NYC. Another band I was playing with opened for Nine Days.

WOW again,another great thread!

I've opened for a lot of bands in the eighties & still do once in a while.
Bands I've opened for are:

Southside Johnny & Asbury Jukes.(he requsted us.we were flattered)
The Turtles/Flo & Eddie
The Four Tops
Tower of Power
NRBQ (MANY times. We were big fans!)
Toots & the Maytels
The Hooters
Violent Femmes
Blood,Sweat & Tears (later version.David-Clayton Thomas and..)
Neville Brothers
Black Crowes
Three Dog Night (later version. really 2 dog night. They almost didn't make the show due to a canadian customs strike. They were really good!)

John Cafferty & the Beaver Brown band

The Drifters(God knows who was original. We hadda another gig to do & couldn't stick around.)

Chuck Brown & the Soul Searchers(I REALLY wanted to see them! But once again, did a set ,tore to the next gig!)

Richie Havens

The Godfathers (Great british band who sounded like a cross between the Clash & the Yardbirds.Really tight! They actually opened for us & we returned the favor cause we dug them! A nybody remember "Birth,School,Work,Death?)

Beatlemania! (One of the many"original cast" lineups that are all over the US)

There's probably a lot more I've left out.
I do a gig every year where we follow an oldies act. They do a sit down dinner show then we do the dance/party sets.So i've followed:
Frankie Valli
The Shirelles The Crystals The Marvellettes (one original member in each)
Bobby Rydell,Fabian & Lou Christie ( Lou was really good.He was the only guy who didn't lounge it)

None of the above acts were ever nasty to us.

Actually headlined and Zeppelin openned for them. It was the last time Zeppelin openned for anyone.

Not quite!
There was a concert in Columbia,Maryland at a place called the Merrweather Post Pavilion. It was May of 1969.I'm pretty sure it was the 25th.A buddy who moved to Baltimore got me a ticket.I just turned 16. Took a bus down to Maryland.I HAD to see this one!

Led Zeppelin was the opening act.

The headline act was The Who !

What a show that was!

I know this doesn't count, but it's sooooo close. The Trio I'm in got a call to open for Bruce Hornsby. I was absolutely thrilled. Couldn't do it. The keyboard player is getting married around that time and they'll be on their honeymoon...

Oh well. Another opportunity like that will roll around.

In other news, we got asked to open for EOTO again. They're coming back to Buffalo in October. EOTO is the drummers from The String Cheese Incident. That was a fun gig the last time. Really nice guys. They actually crashed at the keyboard player's house after the show.

Peace,
Joe
