You opened for WHOM???

I'm due to open for Diamond Head in April.

Also on the bill are pop-rock band The Calling (remember them?) and US metalcore act Still Remains.

Played with Diamondhead myself last year, absolute pleasure to play with, they played a great set and were very nice guys!

Playing with Blaze Bayley this summer and have played with a huge amount of the more underground metal acts.

yeah, it was a great show in the end, great fun and the guys pulled off a killer set. Although Mr Tatler wasn't the most hospitable of people. But all the other guys were ice cool.

I mostly hate these threads casue it sounds like a bragging thing. but this may be fun so i joined in...
I did a show for HBO live.. i went on before Robert Plant. Foreigner, Led Zeppelin, Genisis, Yes, Ruth Brown,
Folks that went on before us were ELP- Emerson Lake and Palmer< Vanilla Fudge, the Bee Gees,Blues Brothers the list goes on and on. It was the roster of all Altlantic records folks for their 40th Birthday at MSG. There are many more big manes too, but i forgot .
It was some fun
I think it counts, let's hear it.

Ok, here's a funny story:

A couple years ago I played bass and sang with a band that opened for Steppenwolf in a really nice venue in Ohio. We're onstage getting our gear setup while the guys in Steppenwolf (minus John Kay) are warming up/tuning/whatever. They were really nice guys, and looked very cool in all their rock-star garb and their $5000 guitars, etc. Kay's 381 Rickenbacker was laying in an open case. Awesome.

So, it's hectic. You guys know how these gigs go most of the time. They usually don't care what kind of mix the opening band gets. We were busting our asses hoping to get ready in time to ask (very humbly and politely) for a sound-check. This scraggly looking dude with cutoff pants and sandals, who I assume was part of the crew somehow, comes up to me and says something about my Rickenbacker bass. "Nice bass," or whatever. Rickenbacker players are used to this happening a lot ;) "Yeah, thanks," I say, trying to be polite, but also in a hurry. "Good to meet you." "Yeah, you too." And he walks off.

At this point the guitarist in my group says, "You realize, of course, that was John Kay."

The biggest band I ever played immediately next to would probably be Big D and the Kids Table. Through some freak last minute substitution, my old emo band played immediately after them.

After I quit said band, they opened for Piebald and Coheed and Cambria. I was a little jealous about Piebald.

My current band has yet to play anything but small shows with local bands.
