Ya didn't like the 4001 ?

I liked it, but I had three reasons why I wanted to trade it at the time:
1. It had faulty pickups and I replaced them with aftermarket Joe Barden pickups. I didn't like the sound and I didn't want to replace the pickups again for some reason.
2. I already had my 2012 4003 so I thought having more than one Ric was redundant. Boy was I wrong!
3. I was young and stupid!

I'm still kicking myself a little because I traded the 4001. But if I didn't, I don't know if I would have acquired my 2022 4003, which is even better than my old 4001.

1994 (I think), I bought my first bass, a brand new 1992 Fender Jazz Bass Plus V Ash. My main bass until it was sold in 2012.

2002 (I think), my second bass, a brand new 1995 Music Man StingRay fretless that had been hanging on the wall in the shop for 7 years without being sold. Sold some years later (can't remember exactly when) to a guy in France.

Late 2002 (ordered) - early 2003 (received) my third bass, a Warwick Custom Shop Corvette Proline short scale fretless. Still owned.

2003, bought my fourth bass off of eBay, a like new condition 2002 Music Man StingRay fretless. Sold some years later (can't remember exactly when) to a guy in NYC.

2003, bought my fifth bass, also off of eBay, a 2000 Music Man StingRay fretless with piezo, exactly like the last one, but with the piezo added. Still owned, my number one since 2012.

That's it. Five basses in 29 years, sold three. I would have liked to have kept them all, but life is funny that way, sometimes.

This is my list….
1) ESP LTD TL 5 sm (semi acoustic- the sound was not my cup of tea)
2) Cort A5 singlecut (introduced me to the concept of a singlecut, sound was quite good but I wanted a 6 string)
3) Ibanez BTB 1826 (well crafted, great sound possibilities but couldn t get along with the 35 scale)
4) Ibanez ANB 306 ( extremely sweet sounding, beautiful bass - but with 5,45 kg on the heavy side; I sold it because I got serious problems with neck and shoulders)
5) Ibanez EHB 1505 ( weight was quite the opposite, playability ok - the great con was the sound: Nordstrand PU are not everybodys favorite)
6) then came a time when I had more GAS then brain, 5 basses came and went and left not much impression
7) So I decided to invest my money for a bass that married the concept of a singlecut with the great tradition of Sadowsky Guitars;
I couldn t be happier since I got my Sadowsky Metroline Modern 5 Singlecut;
I sold the other basses, had no GAS since and concentrate on the improvement of my playing.

I'll try to make a proper list but for example I've owned at least thirty Rickenbackers in my life, all the way from 1972 to 2021, many Fenders and Gibsons, I'll see what I can do in a few spare hours though.

I'm still kicking myself a little because I traded the 4001. But if I didn't, I don't know if I would have acquired my 2022 4003, which is even better than my old 4001.

I don't know why but I never got a Rickenbacker,
Of course I played a few over the years .
I actually bought a BaDaSs black 4003 5 string
3 yrs ago , and then I cancelled because the dude was giving me shady excuses when I asked for a pic of the serial number.
I'm 99.99% sure he was trying to sell me a chinabacker for the price of an original Rick.
I'm sure this kinda bs is happening alot more than people think with alot of big money basses sold on the internet are actually copies of original basses
costing thousands , and the copies costing the scammer trying to sell them only hundreds.
The 5 basses I've ordered on the internet
1 bass was delivered damaged
2 basses were not even close to the bass I actually ordered .
and these were basses I ordered from so called
" reputable sites "
If I can't see it , hold it in my hands , and Play it before I buy it

1974 or 1975 Fender Mustang Bass (with racing stripes). Loaned to an “friend”, whom I hadn’t seen for a while before this, for purchase evaluation (since I had no amp). Never saw it or any payment after that. Wish I had it now..

1994 Yamaha RBX350 Still have.

2024 G&L Kiloton (Tribute series). Had a 2023 which was replaced, under warranty, for a problem with the paint. Still have the 2024.
