Your Cheaper bass is getting more playing time

+1, the price of a bass has nothing to do with whether a player will like it in relation to another bass. A real German Hofner costs as much as many coffee table boutiques. I know for a fact, I would take a Warrior or Hanewinkel over a Hofner!

I know a Gospel player would most likely take a used $750 Cirrus or a $425 TL-5 or a $4000 Alleva-Copolo P-bass, even if it were a five.

I have a corvette standard (5 string)and an LTD EC 254(4 string). corvette sees 99.5% of my play time. I use the LTD when i dont want the warwick getting banged up, or if i'm giving a beginner on a lesson so they can understand what i'm doing easier without the extra string

IMO focussing on one bass takes your playing to another level, you become really in tune with it. the warwick fits me like a glove, my playing just doesn't have the same smoothness on any other bass I haven't put as much time into

Having a bass that's so great you don't play out with it is like having a wife who's so hot you don't have sex with her.

And right now, my main bass is the Squier deluxe. And I have several boutique and vintage instruments. It just plays and sounds best and others have commented on how solid sounding it is.

Things may change though. But they may not.

What's wrong with your stingray? Mine is pretty much indestructible. I've played with ridiculous belt buckles that didn't scratch or give it any buckle rash whatsoever. It's fallen on stage and not been dented. The only thing that has ever broken on it is the input jack because I was playing with straight end cables instead of the angled end cables and I kept hitting it on my knee or other stuff while rocking out on stage too hard. I also broke a lot of cables that way. But other than that my stingray has been through hell and doesn't show any scratches or dents. Actually it has one dent, which I don't know how it got there since I didn't do it. My dad got really pissed at me when I was in high school and went on a rampage through my room and knocked a ton of stuff over and left a dent on the side of the stingray. He must have been really pissed to be able to dent that guitar!

Wow, Congrats on a MM Sub for 150 bucks, thats a really good price, they go for 500 used around here, and worth every penny in my opinion.

Until I sold my Classic Vibe 60s Jazz, it got way more play time than any of my other basses. I eventually sold it for a Lakland Skyline DJ4, which is now my main player. The CV60s was an awesome bass and I do plan on eventually getting another one. Not only was it very comfortable and awesome sounding, it was also absolutely aesthetically stunning. It was considerably more playable than my Fender MIM 70s Reissue Jazz, which was three or four times as expensive.

I want an Olympic White nitro Jazz body with a dark tort guard coupled with a vintage tinted Jazz neck with dark rosewood and pearloid blocks. Mmm. I wish that Fender would make a Roadworn Jazz with that color scheme. I'd buy one in a heartbeat. The RW Jazz basses that I have played have been absolutely awesome. As much as I love my DJ4, I'd definitely need another Olympic White Jazz to put next to it.

I'm in the same boat.... I love my SX Jazz. I've played it for a lot of gigs & I like the sound better than the MIA Jazz I sold a few months back. My active Franken P is a close 2nd. Not quite there on the setup, but it's getting there. Love the way it sounds tho. :-)

Just got a DJ4 & I'm afraid to take it out of the house! Too pretty & expensive!

Oh definitely :)! I found some really good Japanese, '80s Fender copies (by Tokai), which played and sounded much better to me than either my vintage Fender or Fender CS basses. After a few months, when I was sure that it wasn't just 'a phase', I sold all of the expensive stuff and just kept the Tokais.

Now, I only have 'copy' basses, but then I tend to only copy other people's basslines and never write my own, so it's probably appropriate :D.
