Your Cheaper bass is getting more playing time

i play my squire j-bass rather than the ibanez sr-505, but that's mostly a 4-string vs 5-string choice. the vintage modified squires are really good, IMO (once you crank the bejeezus out of the truss rod to straighten the neck). i love the ibanez--very versatile. it can get just about any type of sound i could want. having made the concious choice to go back to the 4-string means i'm playing the "cheaper" bass, but it's not like either of them was all that expensive in the first place...

I don't know if there has been a thread on this if so I apologise. Recently I have been playing my MM SUB which only cost me £99 / $153,back in April more than my favorite bass my Rickenbacker 4003.

I love the Ric but for some reason the SUB is the one I'm into at the moment. Has anyone else encountered this,where your cheaper or 2nd bass has started to get more playing time.

Can I borrow your Rickenbacker?

I'm taking my SX PJ just anywhere, kind of fun that I paid off the bass with one gig, like in the old days. Not that it would be fun getting a Made in USA Fender -- to support the economy if nothing else -- but there are not that many well-paid gigs here in the south Bay Area, not to speak of not that many playing opportunities so just now the SX works fine.

Sorry martyman it's to far to travel to lend you the Ric. Another bass of mine has seen hardly any playing time,for the last 12 years my original 1964 Hofner Violin bass.

Even as I write this my SUB is aprox 2ft away from me waiting to be played,the daft thing is that until I bought the SUB in April I was not a fan of the EBMM Stingray.

My Squier Jazz V is getting a lot of love lately. Modded the pups and electronics, and it is wearing flats. So the main reason is that it is giving me exactly what I've been looking for.
