Your Favorite Bass Store & Why..?

My favorite bass store was Bass Northwest. I bought my set redhead from there in '95. In 2006 I ordered my ebmm sr5 from there based of Chads recommendation n without seeing or hearing one previously. In 2010 I wanted to get some gk gear and the guy I talked to was very rude n kept trying to steer me toward Genz Benz. He could have sold me gk but just didn't want to. I now get my stuff from a small local shop and I work with the owner. He is very honest and works me a deal every time. Be trustworthy and treat everyone fairly and people will come back. When you bait and switch people feel taken advantage of they won't be back

Bass Central! Beaver and company are all great people to deal with. When Sterling Ball agreed to build the Breast Cancer Awareness bass for me after my wife was diagnosed, the only thing he asked is that I place the order through an authorized dealer. Beaver stepped up and said he would love for Bass Central to be that dealer even though I had never bought a thing from him before. Sterling Ball then donated 100% of the funds to my wifes Relay for Life cancer team and Beaver did the same from the money he would have made as well. So the 2k that the bass cost, all went to our Relay for Life team in addition to the forum members who also donated which in total along with our donations came to a little over 7k.

To me, that said a lot about that company that it's not always about the money. I had spent at the time $0.00 with Music Man and Bass Central so for both Sterling Ball and Beaver to do that showed they had great hearts. As a result, Bass Central is now the only company I buy from and in fact, every Music Man that I buy is done through them. I have since sold off almost all of my other gear and have a total of 7 Music Man basses now.

Well in Oakland County, Michigan the best store has to be Motor City Guitar. This is the most amazing store with a whole wall of basses to choose from and Marty, the owner is one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet. I don't go anywhere else.

I can't say I know much about Cleveland, but Boston has an excellent music scene and could use a top notch bass (or music in general) store. There are tons of music students in the area and lots of other musicians, young and old, who would appreciate a selection of quality gear.

Bass Specialties, which is just outside Philly in Bensalem, PA. Glenn is awesome, and he has a phenomenal selection of basses, amplification, strings, etc.

Before Bass Specialties opened, I made the road trip to Jive Sound in Alexandria, VA, and thought it was great.

There's only one store around me. Long & McQuade. Haven't bought a bass from them since grade 10, which was a long time ago.

I remember when I bought it, too. I was looking for a cheap four string to play with. I had a nice five string, but wanted another backup bass. It was a Peavey Millennium and they were trying to talk me out of the sale. They said I already had a nice bass and was crazy for "downgrading". I said I needed a backup bass to tour with and didn't have a lot of money back then. I should have just walked about, but I wanted the bass. Played it for years (in three different bands) before selling it for a good price. Take that, L&M.

I have been dealing with Bass NW since the early 1990's and have always enjoyed buying from them. It was a great experience while Chad was there, and it has continued to be a great experience after Chad. I've also sold items on consignment at Bass NW and that has also worked well for me.

Local = bass place in phoenix. Great service, great selection of gear and excellent service. My first choice if they have what I want.

Believe it or not Guitar Center Scottsdale. :hiding: The nicer basses are kept in the "Fender Room" and are relatively unmolested, They even bother to set them up before hanging them on the wall. Hard to beat 30 day NQA return policy.

Online: Sweetwater and Bass NW.

Premier Bass in Colorado. It's close to my home, has knowledgeable, friendly staff, and I can see and try everything in person. So, probably not what you want to hear, but I like it because it's brick and mortar. (They do online sales, too, though.) When I buy online, I like Best Bass Gear, Bass Stings Online, and I tolerate Musicians Friend since they carry a few things I can't get anywhere else.
