Your Favorite Covers! (of All Time)

A less obvious one would be:
House of the Rising Sun by the Animals

Also:
Wish You Were Here by Rasputina

Tainted Love - My Ruin

Holiday in Cambodia - Richard Cheese (seriously, better than the DKs, sorry Jello)

Blinded by the Light - Manfred Mann. We just started covering this cover as well ; one of my favorites ever!
Also, Talas' version of Stop! In the Name of Love from their first album...Billy's bass tone is monstrous!

Type O Negative did a few great ones, like Summer Breeze:

Faith No More's cover of War Pigs is also a standout:

And just because I love this silly, cheesy Queensryche album, their version of Gonna Get Close To You:

Also, Solstice did a great death metal version of Carnivore's "S.M.D", but I guess I shouldn't post that here.

I'm not huge on covers, but Foo Fighters did a good cover of Baker Street that I like.
Failure and Lacuna Coil have both done good covers of Enjoy the Silence.
My thing is that most covers are of pop songs and I generally disdain pop songs.

Top of my head favs:
Chaka Khan covering Stevie Wonder "I Was Made To Love Him/Her"

AWB covering The Isley Brothers "Work To Do"

Jeff Beck covering Stevie Wonder/Syreeta "Cause We've Ended As Lovers"

Jeff Beck covering Beatles "A Day In The Life"
(Reminds me of what Yes did with "America")

Vanilla Fudge covering The Supremes "You Just Keep Me Hangin' On"

Pat Travers covering Booker T/Albert King "Born Under a Bad Sign". This one has a nice pace, great vocal track, builds all the way through, and has Peter "Mars" Cowling (RIP) on it.

Arguably, two of the most successful covers would be Clapton's versions of J.J. Cale's "Cocaine" and Bob Marley's "I Shot The Sheriff". Talk about sales and airplay! (Oddly, I still prefer the originals.)
