I really like wah -> fuzz or wah -> overdrive, as well as fuzz -> tremolo, and soon (maybe today) fuzz -> leslie sim (listen to the live version, not Woodstock, but with Big Brother and the Holding Company version of "Summertime" with Janis Joplin). Also Uni-Vibe -> Overdrive or fuzz -> Uni-Vibe is pretty sick. Oh and OC-2 -> Fuzz. Or octave fuzz -> fuzz. And also pretty much anything with a nice delay, especially a nice, touch responsive distortionish fuzz like the Voodoo Lab Superfuzz. Instant bass "Brighton Rock Solo".

Thanks, I know have a good excuse to get out my v-bass again (just for the effects) and to try these great concoctions.

OD>Fuzz sounds badass any way you do it. But Fuzz>OD doesn't work nearly as well. Kinda sputters and goes flat.

My two favorite combinations involve the POG. Octave up + octave down = win.

POG + any fuzz = awesome.
POG + high feedback analog delay = the most amazing, trippy bass stuff I've ever heard.

To get the thread back on track...I'm going with:

envelope filter > overdrive > delay > wah

I love the sound of filter before dirt so I like to be able to hear it lots of times after playing it. Oh and there's some crazy sounds to be found when you 'wah' on the delays (quarter note offbeats and such).

Different sound. One is a gritty, analog octaver and the other is clean and digital. Very different sounds IMO and really depends on what you want.

If you like the POG sound, the nice part is that it tracks nearly flawlessly.

Luckily a friend of mine is letting me borrow his rig which includes a DBX 266XL(not my favorite), sonic maximizer(rackmount is much better than the stomp box IMO), and a sansamp pre with killer OD so my ODB-3 and FX25B have come back into the mix. The comp really takes care of the volume drop on the FX25B so now I just enjoy filter goodness and the ODB-3 acts as dirty gain pedal as opposed to a less than impressive overdrive. Beautiful.

I miss having a delay just for the silly things that delays enable. My board at the moment produces more useful sounds than it ever has, but I miss being able to make it do laser fart sounds on a rainy afternoon.

You don't need a delay to lazer fart, my board is living proof!
