I must say that the Thunderbird like pickups in my Lull are some of the best I've heard, but most of these brands are good to be honest, can't really go wrong.

If I ever went with a passive pickup over my EMGs it would be Q Tuners... and very recently I've become very interested in the Lace Alumitone Bass Bars.

I like emg and bartolini pick-ups. I like emgs for their clarity and versatility. I also like bartolini pick-ups for their warm dark sounds. I plan to buy a set of bartolini jazz pick-ups for my fernandes bass. those or a set of emg hz jazz pick-ups. and I was also thinking of purchasing a set of bartolini soapbar pick-ups for my Ibanez sr305. I can imagine how much versatility these pick-ups would deliver for my basses.

I was wondering the same thing. I also noticed emg wasn't listed on the pole either. I was thinking about purchasing a set bartolini pick-ups for my basses. their 5-string jazz pick-ups got me interested. I'm thinking about purchasing them for my fernandes bass. my other choice would of been emg hz jazz pick-ups. I'm also thinking of purchasing a set of bartolini soapbar pick-ups for my Ibanez bass. I can Imagine how much versatility these pick-ups would deliver for my bass. I plan to purchase them sometime soon.

Bartonlini's for passive?!? I've only heard bad things about them in passive.

Some of their pick-ups are passive and some of them are active. it depends on the model and the circuitry. I've been curious about their passive pick-ups. I'm thinking about purchasing their passive pick-ups. my other choice would be emg passive pick-ups.

Are you asking about "passive pickups" (which covers 95% of the pickups out there), or are you talking about pickups to be installed in a passive bass that will not have a preamp?

I recently commissioned a build and the Alumatones and Q-Tuners were on the short list...I chose the Alumatones... it was a good choice, clean, articulate, and deep.
